HIS 321 - Topics in Public History Semester Hours: 4
Students in this course will engage with the theory and methods of public history. Through case studies, readings, and seminar-style discussions, we will analyze the philosophy and practice of museums and historic homes, the digital humanities, “activist” public humanities, and public parks and memorials. By the end of the semester, the class will have contributed to a substantial section of a digital history exhibition about the history of Westminster College. Overall, we will address the questions: what is public history and who, exactly, is the public?
