WST 090 - Discovering Purpose and Careers Semester Hours: 2
In this early college course, high school students will explore their future pathways through a blend of philosophical reflection and career-focused preparation. This course will allow students to “test drive” a college course while exploring key life questions-such as, “What is success?” “What is the good life?” and “What is my purpose?”-through readings and activities inspired by ancient and contemporary thinkers. Students will also research career options, including required education/training and relevant market trends. Field trips and guest speakers will provide first-hand exposure to regional career opportunities. As part of the course, students will create/refine professional documents, such as resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles, tailored to their career interests, and will discuss professionalism in the workplace. By the end of this course, students will have a clearer sense of their personal philosophy and career direction, setting a strong foundation for the next chapter in their lives.
Note: Early College only.
