CLU 188 - Battle for the Past Semester Hours: 4
How we tell the stories of our past reflects our own values and interests. This course will examine public memory as a manifestation of the perceptions, displays, and uses of the past by communities and nations. Public memory is contested and changing, and this course will examine the theory of public memory as well as some examples, as it is studied by historians, sociologists, political scientists, and others. Students will explore personal and political topics related to public memory.
