HIS 217 - Introduction to Public History

Semester Hours: 4

Students in this course will engage with the theory and methods of public history. Through case studies, readings, discussions, and group projects we will analyze the philosophy and practice of museums, collections, archives, memorials, parks, historic homes, and more. We will also meet practitioners in the field and practice preparing resumes and answering interview questions. This course pairs with HIS 497 to provide a both theoretical and practical introduction to public history.

Corequisite: HIS 497
