CHE 338 - Physical Chemistry

Semester Hours: 4

A study of the behavior of matter at the macroscopic and microscopic level. Topics include thermodynamics, kinetics, quantum mechanics, and
spectroscopy. Thermodynamics and kinetics focus on the macroscopic behavior of matter including the application of the laws of
thermodynamics and the theory behind time-dependent processes. Quantum chemistry and spectroscopy focuses on the microscopic behavior
of matter and its interaction with electromagnetic radiation. Laboratory activities demonstrate the fundamental principles of physical chemistry
through spectroscopy, computational/molecular modeling and group analysis of data and/or problem sets.

Prerequisite: C- or better in CHE 117 and MTH 152 and PHY 152
