HIS 226 - The American Civil War

A study of the causes, conduct, and consequences of the American Civil War (1861-1865), over a broad range of time, 1820-1898. Students will trace changes in the military, cultural, geographic, social, and technological conditions over the time period. Students will also study changes in US memory and memorialization of the war over time to get a since of its lasting impact of American identity.
