SCI 170 - Medical Terminology

Understanding medical terminology is imperative to the ability to practice in the healthcare field. This course goes beyond general medical terminology and focuses on guiding the student to a deep understanding of the meanings and origins of terms used in healthcare practice and the application of these terms in practice. Teaching methods reflect the encouragement of the student to become proficient in the use of essential terminology and employ various methods of active learning engagement. This course is created to stimulate a sense of competence and personal power in the students who participate. Everyone has the ability to monitor, understand, and develop the language used in present healthcare practices.
