This course is designed to provide potential special educators with the theory and skills necessary for success in teaching reading to exceptional students. A wide variety of research-based methods and techniques will be explored for teaching reading to students who have had difficulty learning to read through traditional teaching methods. Students will examine literature pertinent to reading and develop plans for implementing reading intervention. A 30-hour practicum is included in this course.
