ART 103 - 3D Studio Semester Hours: 4
An introductory class for students to explore the physical and visual properties of three-dimensional form. Students will work with a variety of materials such as plaster, balsa wood, paper, foam, cardboard, and found objects. Problem-solving projects will address aspects of design, technique and process, presentation, function and innovation in the creating of physical objects in space. Traditional and contemporary artists working in three-dimensional media are shown to illustrate project themes. The course lays the groundwork for additional three-dimensional courses in sculpture, ceramics or craft-based media. Meets Visual and Performing Arts Intellectual Perspective requirement (VP).
