ART 601 - Capstone

Semester Hours: 4

Capstone for the Art Major is the completion and formal presentation of a series of creative works that illustrate a student’s specific research interests, explored through studio art. Additionally, the Capstone course develops professional skills through writing an artist statement, resumé, professional proposal, having studio visits professional artists, and developing a pricing strategy for their artwork. Research projects should build on previous knowledge while continuing to evolve personal artistic practice through media, process, style, subject and content. Faculty members mentor the student through the primary creative phase of the project and resulting exhibition and artist talk in the spring semester of their senior year. Mentorship by the instructor may also include any necessary demonstrations of tools or techniques, in-process critiques and discussions of research.

Prerequisite: GPA of 2.5 in the major to enroll in ART 601.
When Offered: Offered Fall term.
